Peter Bakken, General Manager
Originally from Texas, Peter moved to the Rockies for the hiking, biking,
winter sports and the natural beauty of the mountains. He joined the
Management Team at the Hearthstone during the summer of 1997. Peter
draws on over 20 years of experience in the restaurant, hotel and guest
service business to drive our award-winning wine and spirits program and
to manage our professional culinary and service staff. Don’t hesitate to
search him out when you come in to dine with us, he’d love to “talk wine”
with you!
Michael Halpin, Executive Chef
Michael started his culinary career in Keystone, Colorado in 1989 at The Inn
at Keystone. He left in 1992 to attend the Culinary School at Kendall College
in Evanston, Illinois. Graduated in 1994 and headed to Lake Tahoe, California
to open the River Grill. He spent seven years there before moving to Hawaii
to work as Chef for Merriman’s, a three time James Beard nominated restaurant.
Michael returned to Summit County in 2005 and started work for the Hearthstone
Restaurant as Sous Chef.
Ben Bradford, Assistant Manager
Ben began his career in the food and beverage industry in 1990 while living in
Atlanta, Georgia. After attending a small college in the Appalachian Mountains,
he returned to Atlanta in 1999 where he lived until 2006. The restaurant
industry became his career choice while working at Goldfish Restaurant and
managing the operations of their upscale bar. His interest in casual, trendy,
and fine dining aided in the decision to move to Breckenridge and continue his
career at The Hearthstone.
